Rivers State Deputy Governor, Prof. Ngozi Odu, has commended the state’s Primary Health Care Task Force for its innovative telemedicine initiative, describing it as a significant milestone in healthcare delivery.
Speaking on during the recently held 2025 fourth-quarter meeting of the State Task Force on Primary Health Care (PHC) at Government House, Prof. Odu praised the team’s commitment to improving access to healthcare services across the state.
She noted that the telemedicine demonstration during the commissioning in Ahoada showcased the government’s dedication to leveraging technology for better healthcare outcomes.
Prof. Odu also highlighted the broader achievements of the task force, celebrating Rivers State’s recent win in the Primary Health Care Leadership Challenge for the South-South zone and its second-place ranking nationally.
She attributed the success to the resilience, teamwork, and dedication of the health officials.
While acknowledging the challenges faced, the Deputy Governor encouraged members of the task force to protect their achievements and continue striving for excellence. “We must now guard the achievement jealously and aspire to be number one nationally by God’s grace,” she urged.
She concluded by emphasising the importance of sustaining the state’s strong performance in both primary and secondary healthcare, commending the task force for consistently contributing to the improvement of the healthcare system under Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s leadership.
