Eunice Edonkumoh, the Chief Matron of Kpakiama Primary Healthcare Centre, Delta State, has urged citizens to take proactive measures to prevent the outbreak of cholera in the state.
She made this call on Friday during the distribution of free drugs to all the primary health centres across the Bomadi Local Government Area, courtesy of the council boss, Rawlings Andaye.
Expressing gratitude to the LG chairman, she explained the importance of preventive measures.
“Cholera is a communicable disease mostly caused by contaminated water and food, and there are some recorded cases in various communities such as Esanma, Ogriagbene, Akugbene, Kpakiama and other communities in the council area,” Edonkumoh said.
While advising the people of Bomadi LGA, Edonkumoh highlighted ways to prevent the outbreak, which include practicing proper hygiene, consuming boiled water and hot food, washing hands before and after eating, and visiting the restrooms, among others.

Amameniye stated that the LGA has declared free medical for patients who shows the symptoms of the disease.
Amameniye stated, “Our amiable council chairman had deemed it necessary to take both preventive and precautionary measures by providing the drugs for the primary healthcare facilities across the council area, even before any recorded case here.
“My advice to our people is that they should run to the nearest primary healthcare facilities in their various communities in case of any emergency regarding the disease.”
