Following the death of a young orphan, Miss Success Anosike, in the Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State, the Coordinator of the African Women Lawyers Association (AWLA), Gloria Anuri-Ohia, has urged Governor Siminalayi Fubara to implement the execution orders for convicted sexual offenders.
During an interview session with the coordinator of AWLA, Anuri-Ohia, held on Monday with Nigeria Info concerning rape cases, she explained what sexual harassment entails.
She further urged citizens to visit the newly established Rivers State Sexual Assault Referral Centre to report cases of sexual assault and rape for investigation and for justice to be served.

A report published in 2021 indicated that over 6,928 cases of rape and sexual violence has been recorded in Rivers State.
Recall that on 3 November, the deceased, Miss Anosike, was found lifeless in her room after allegedly being raped.
Further details revealed that the information was made known after a family friend shared it on social media while calling for police intervention.
It was also reported that following the tip-off, the state Police Command announced the arrest of suspects in connection with the rape and murder of the late orphan.
The Command’s spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, had earlier confirmed the arrest of the suspects, adding that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (SCIID), stating that “the lady’s body has been deposited in the morgue and an investigation is ongoing.”
