Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has commissioned the Minds Medical Specialist Hospital and Drug Rehabilitation Centre in Ondo City.
In a statement, Aiyedatiwa’s Chief Priest Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, said the new facility, founded by Dr Jibayo Adeyeye, is aimed at providing specialised care for mental health and substance addiction.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Aiyedatiwa lauded the initiative as a “significant milestone” in the state’s efforts to enhance healthcare services.

He praised Adeyeye for his vision and dedication, stating that the new hospital is poised to redefine mental healthcare and drug addiction rehabilitation in the region.
“The establishment of Minds Medica is a testament to the vision and dedication of its founder, Dr. Jibayo Adeyeye,” he said.
The governor added that the centre’s mission to offer accessible, affordable, and high-quality mental health services demonstrates a strong commitment to the well-being of the people of Ondo State.
Aiyedatiwa emphasised that the opening of the facility was more than just a new building; it was a powerful statement about the importance of mental health.
He urged residents to utilise the services and help combat the stigma associated with mental illness and drug addiction.
“We are saying that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness,” he declared.
The governor also assured continued government support and collaboration for investors in the health sector.
However, Adeyeye, the founder of Minds Medica, shared the personal story that inspired the creation of the facility.
He recounted an encounter with a woman who had suffered from mental illness on the streets for over a decade.
After providing her with medical care and witnessing her full recovery, he was motivated to establish a dedicated centre for mental health and drug rehabilitation.

The founder noted that the hospital is equipped with advanced infrastructure and staffed by local and international specialists to ensure exceptional healthcare.
The Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, Oba Dr Victor Adesimbo Kiladejo, commended Aiyedatiwa for his administration’s developmental projects and Adeyeye for his beneficial initiative.
