In a snippet from the interview shared on his Instagram page, the on-air personality suggested that financial success plays a major role in determining who society chooses to admire or emulate.
According to him, individuals without money often struggle to gain the respect or recognition required to be considered role models.
“You can’t be a role model when you don’t have money in Nigeria,” Nedu said during the discussion.
He explained that the growing emphasis on wealth and material success has reshaped societal values, making financial status a major factor in how people are perceived.
While discussing lifestyle realities in parts of Lagos, Nedu also made a controversial claim about some residents of Lekki, suggesting that many women living in the upscale area depend on men to cover their housing expenses.
“Most women wey dey live for Lekki, na men dey pay their rent,” he said.
His comments were made while addressing what he described as the increasing influence of money on relationships, social standing, and public admiration.
The discussion formed part of a broader conversation about modern societal pressures, where individuals often feel compelled to project wealth and financial success in order to gain validation and respect.
Nedu, who is widely known for his work as a radio host, comedian, and media personality, frequently addresses social issues and lifestyle topics through interviews, podcasts, and social media discussions.
His remarks have since sparked debate online, with some agreeing with his perspective about the role wealth plays in shaping influence and public perception, while others argue that values such as character, integrity, and contribution to society should determine who qualifies as a role model.
