Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Yomi Fabiyi, has revealed that his open support for Big Brother Naija Season 10 winner, Imisi Ayanwale, was driven by genuine loyalty and gratitude, not personal or financial gain.
Speaking in an interview with Saturday Beats, Fabiyi said his connection with Imisi predates her reality TV fame, describing himself as a “father figure” to the young star in the movie industry.

“I am an adult and like a father to her in the film industry. She was the only housemate I knew personally. Everything I do, he noted.
For instance, when I had my housewarming, she stayed throughout and made sure the event went well. Supporting her during the show was simply the right thing to do,” he explained.
The actor also revealed that Imisi’s entertainment journey began under his mentorship at his film academy.
“Imisi was one of my students at my film academy, and beyond that, she has always been supportive of me and my son. We used to live in the same area in Ikorodu, and she’s been helpful long before the fame,” he added.
When asked whether he had any concerns about publicly supporting her, given that some individuals he previously helped had distanced themselves, Fabiyi said he refuses to let such experiences change his principles.
“I don’t think about things like that. Of course, in today’s social media world, some people distance themselves from those who helped them just to appear self-made. They don’t want anyone to have bragging rights over their success,” he noted.
Fabiyi concluded by emphasizing that no amount of ingratitude would stop him from doing good.
“No matter the level of ingratitude, I don’t let it get to me. I’ll keep doing what’s right.”
Imisi, who recently received her ₦150 million prize and a brand-new SUV after emerging as the winner of BBNaija Season 10, has often credited mentors like Fabiyi for supporting her early career in Nollywood before her rise to reality TV stardom.
