Nigerian Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has accused fellow singer Wizkid of copying his nickname, insisting that he used it long before the Afrobeats star adopted a similar moniker.
Kuti claimed a recent livestream after a Wizkid fan advised him to stop using the nickname “Big Bird”, noting that Wizkid is popularly known as “Biggest Bird”.
Reacting to the suggestion, the son of Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti dismissed it, insisting that he has no intention of changing his nickname.

“Wizkid stole my name. Tell your fave to be original. Why are you telling me to change my name? Sorry, I can’t change it,” he said.
He stressed that he had been using the nickname long before Wizkid and was not interested in competing with anyone over it.
“This name has been here since. I am the first to come up with it. I am not dragging it with anybody, please,” he added.
The comment has since sparked reactions online, with fans of both artists weighing in on the debate over originality and nicknames in the music industry.
