Fireboy DML reveals why he chose Iseoluwa as the opening track for his latest album, Adedamola, saying it reflects a moment of clarity in his life.
In a recent interview, the YBNL and Empire Distribution artist shared that the song reflects a moment of clarity in his life. According to him, it made perfect sense to start the album with a track that held deep personal meaning.
“I had more clarity during that period,” Fireboy explained. “I made that song from that clarity, and it felt right to use it as the album’s introduction. My fans, who have followed my music for years, know that I am always intentional about my intros. They are always inspiring in some way, so for an album as personal as this, it was only right to start with Iseoluwa.”
Created during a challenging period
Fireboy further revealed that he recorded the song during a difficult phase in his life. At that time, he was reflecting deeply, learning from past experiences, and reevaluating his journey.
“I was at a low point in my life,” he admitted. “It was a time of learning, unlearning, and growing through experience. It wasn’t always a pleasant process, but it was necessary for personal growth. During that phase, I began to understand what truly mattered in life—beyond the things I had been chasing or dreaming about.”

Fireboy’s fourth studio album
His latest project, Adedamola, marks his fourth studio album under YBNL, the record label owned by Nigerian music icon Olamide. The 14-track album showcases Fireboy’s evolution as an artist and a person, blending introspection with his signature sound.
Since breaking into the industry, Fireboy has built a reputation for crafting meaningful and heartfelt music. His ability to connect with listeners through deeply personal lyrics has set him apart, making him one of the most respected voices in contemporary Afrobeats.
A personal and inspiring album
With Adedamola, Fireboy continues that tradition, offering fans a glimpse into his journey of self-discovery. The album’s lead track, Iseoluwa, serves as a powerful statement—one that sets the tone for an intimate and inspiring musical experience.
