Popular Nigerian singer, songwriter, and record producer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has announced Akwa Ibom State as the first location for his live music concert in Nigeria after 14 years on stage, citing the state’s outstanding infrastructure and facilities.
Speaking at a pre-concert reception hosted by Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, and Senate President Godwill Akpabio in Uyo on Sunday, Davido described Akwa Ibom as a model state for hosting major events.
“Everything about Akwa Ibom State is beautiful,” he said, adding that if all Nigerian states possessed similar facilities, he would be comfortable touring the entire country.
The singer praised Governor Eno for his efforts in maintaining peace, security, and for providing platforms for young people to excel.
“When we were looking around Africa, five places came up, and Akwa Ibom was at the top of the list. A lot of people are flying in from other states that don’t have this type of facility. I am excited; this tour is the best of its kind. We toured America already, and it was a great success. We wanted a venue in Africa that matches that, and Akwa Ibom is one of the few places we found,” Davido said.
Davido also expressed delight that the stadium is already filling up ahead of the concert. “You have a standard facility, which is why we are starting here. As time goes on, we will continue with other states. Let’s get ready and shut it down,” he said.

Senate President Akpabio commended both Governor Eno and Davido, describing Eno as youth- and sports-friendly, and encouraging Davido to mentor emerging Akwa Ibom talents as he tours abroad.
Governor Eno, in his remarks, lauded Davido’s dedication and impact on the younger generation. “We want to thank you for being an inspiration. Your career shows that with commitment and determination, anything is achievable. We are a youth-friendly state, and sharing the stage with local entertainers inspires them to aim high,” he said.
The concert is expected to attract music lovers from across Nigeria and neighbouring countries, marking a significant cultural event in Akwa Ibom State.
