Nigerian singer and songwriter Vicky Jay has shared a heartfelt message to music icon Innocent “2Baba” Idibia, encouraging him to remain strong despite the turbulence surrounding his personal life.
The emotional piece, currently circulating on YouTube and various social media platforms, blends spoken-word narration with lyrical expressions dedicated to the award-winning singer.
In it, Vicky Jay reflects on 2Baba’s decades-long influence on Nigerian music, praising his consistency, impact, and legendary status.
“For decades you’ve been giving us reason to be happy. Your voice, your music, always a soul revival, right from the Plantashun days to Kennis Music,” he said, describing 2Baba as his brother, mentor, legend, and motivator.

In the message, Vicky Jay expresses concern over the intense public scrutiny surrounding 2Baba’s marriage and personal affairs, urging him not to lose himself in online drama and negative commentary.
“2Baba, what’s really going on? Don’t let anybody change your identity. You’re stronger than the shadows whispering negativity,” he said.
He also advised the veteran singer to cut off people who may be contributing to the turmoil around him:
“Cut off the fake friends, the ones wey pretend.”
Vicky Jay warned that not everyone deserves loyalty, especially when that loyalty comes at the expense of one’s peace.
“My brother, no be everybody you fit go jail for,” he added, referencing 2Baba’s famous lyric, “If love is a crime, I am willing to go to jail.”
The singer further cautioned 2Baba about misplaced trust, describing how not every smile or relationship reflects genuine support.
“No be everybody wey smile be true queen. Real queens uplift their kings, guide the home, respect the crown, and bring peace within,” he said.
Expressing frustration over how online commentators have amplified the situation, he lamented that “hungry bloggers feed on your story and frustrated strangers dance around your storms.”
He urged 2Baba to step back, reflect, and choose peace:
“Some roads no be your road, some battles no be your battles.”
Encouraging the award-winning singer to prioritise his well-being and family, Vicky Jay reminded him that he deserves stability.
“A true king needs a loyal, peaceful queen, not somebody wey go dim your light or break your royal spirit,” he added.
Reassuring 2Baba of his support, he declared:
“No matter wetin dem talk, your fans dey your back. This phase shall pass.”
The message comes shortly after 2Baba publicly appealed to fans to stop intervening in his marital issues. In a brief Instagram Story titled “A plea”, he wrote “help me”, revealing that the heightened attention was putting his wife, Natasha Osawaru, in danger.
“This is getting out of hand, and it’s becoming a dangerous situation,” he said. “I’m perfectly okay. But this is putting Natasha at risk. It’s not fair to anybody.”
2Baba urged the public to “cease fire” and allow the matter to be resolved privately.
2Baba proposed to Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawaru in February and married her in July. Their union has since drawn significant online attention, especially after videos surfaced of arguments and alleged altercations between the couple.
With growing public debate, Vicky Jay’s message serves as yet another voice urging calm, healing, and privacy for the legendary musician.
