Social media commentator Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has strongly criticised the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the rising cost of fuel and worsening economic conditions in the country.
Reacting to reports that petrol prices have climbed above ₦1,000 per litre in parts of Nigeria, VeryDarkMan described the current administration as the worst the country has experienced.

“Fuel price hits over 1000 naira per litre. President Bola Tinubu is the worst thing that has ever happened to Nigeria,” he said.
The outspoken commentator further accused the government of misleading citizens and failing to improve the economic situation since the removal of fuel subsidy.
“They lied, they stole, and they want to continue stealing. President Tinubu is a failure. At the point where you took us from, it was much better than this,” he added.
Referring to his earlier comments before the 2023 elections, VeryDarkMan claimed he had predicted the economic challenges currently facing Nigerians. According to him, the removal of fuel subsidy may have been used as an avenue for financial mismanagement.
“Now imagine a place where Bola Ahmed Tinubu picks everybody from… imagine where we dey today,” he said.
“I said it then that this subsidy thing, they were actually looking for the best means to steal. It was even better when they were paying for the subsidy; at least there was a budget of money meant for the benefit of Nigerians.”
The social media personality also raised concerns about the state of the education sector, alleging that several Nigerian students awarded scholarships are currently stranded abroad.
He cited reports of students studying in Morocco who are allegedly facing financial difficulties due to issues with scholarship funding.
“Till tomorrow we still dey cry say our public schools are failing the children,” he said.
“Dey give scholarship in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s regime, plenty of them dey for Morocco stranded dey cry.”
According to VeryDarkMan, multiple sectors in the country have deteriorated despite the government collecting revenue following the removal of fuel subsidies.
“Education sector don fall, everything they collected money for e don fall. So where is the money for the subsidy that they removed?” he questioned.
He concluded by warning that certain government actions, including the possibility of internet restrictions, could further expose deeper problems within the country.
“Everything I said has come to past. When people doubt me, look at it now,” he said.
“Na the same go shut down internet, na that time Nigerians go know say problem dey wey you no dey see.”
His comments have since sparked discussions online, with supporters and critics debating the state of the economy and the policies of the current administration.
