Afrobeats superstar Tiwa Savage has shut down long-running claims that she ever trolled her Grammy-winning colleague, Wizkid.
The singer clarified after fresh debates surfaced on social media over her past connection with the Starboy boss.
For years, rumours have circulated that the pair had a fallout following their once-close relationship, sparking fan theories that Tiwa had indirectly mocked him online.
The issue reignited this week after a Wizkid fan expressed support for Tiwa, assuring her that members of Wizkid’s fanbase, popularly known as Starboy FC, would stand behind her.
Another fan, however, countered by accusing Tiwa of previously trolling Wizkid, insisting she did not deserve their loyalty.
In an attempt to clear the air, a user turned to XAI, Grok, an artificial intelligence chatbot on X (formerly Twitter), to ask whether Tiwa had ever insulted or mocked Wizkid. The bot replied that there was no evidence of such an incident.
Grateful for the clarification, Tiwa broke her silence on the matter. “Thank you o, have never done that. But they have just ran with this narrative and I have just kept quiet,” she wrote.
Her comment has since gone viral, sparking discussions across the Afrobeats community. While some fans praised her for addressing the rumor directly, others revisited the long history of her friendship and collaborations with Wizkid.

Tiwa Savage and Wizkid’s relationship has long fascinated music fans. Their friendship became highly visible in 2018 when Wizkid released the video for his hit single Fever. Tiwa played his love interest in the steamy visuals, and their undeniable chemistry immediately fueled widespread rumors of a romantic relationship.
The video, which quickly racked up millions of views on YouTube, generated endless online debates about whether their connection extended beyond music. Neither artist confirmed a romance.
Instead, both insisted that their bond was rooted in mutual respect and artistic collaboration.
That same year, the duo performed together at several concerts, including Wizkid’s headline shows in London and Lagos, where Tiwa often joined him on stage. Their close interactions, holding hands, sharing hugs, and exchanging playful moments during performances, kept the rumor mill spinning.
Despite their repeated denials, many fans remained convinced that they were more than friends. For Tiwa, the constant speculation added to her media spotlight, while for Wizkid, it reinforced his image as a star with magnetic appeal.
Over time, however, fans began to notice a decline in their public appearances together. The once-frequent stage collaborations and social media interactions seemed to slow down, fueling whispers of a fallout.
Though neither artist directly addressed the speculation, the gap in their public connection led to unverified claims that their relationship had soured. Some fans alleged that Savage had made subtle digs at Wizkid online, though no evidence was ever presented.
Tiwa’s recent statement pushes back strongly against those claims. By clarifying that she never trolled Wizkid, she not only defended her reputation but also highlighted how false narratives can easily gain traction in the age of social media.

While the gossip has followed her for years, Tiwa Savage has continued to grow her career as one of the leading female voices in Afrobeats. Often referred to as the “Queen of Afrobeats,” she has built a global fanbase with hits such as All Over, 49-99, Somebody’s Son, and Stamina.
Her career achievements include becoming the first female African artist signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation in 2016 and performing at global events, including King Charles III’s coronation concert in 2023. She remains one of the few African women to consistently headline international stages while representing Nigerian music.
Meanwhile, Wizkid has grown into one of Africa’s most celebrated global artists. With his Grammy win for Made in Lagos (Deluxe) and collaborations with stars like Drake, Beyoncé, and Justin Bieber, he has secured his place as a trailblazer for Afrobeats worldwide.
His fanbase, Starboy FC, remains one of the most loyal in African music, often coming to his defense online and engaging in heated debates over his legacy. It was precisely this loyalty that sparked the recent exchange involving Tiwa Savage.
With Tiwa’s recent statement, one of the longest-running narratives about her and Wizkid may finally be put to rest. While rumors of a fallout may linger, her firm denial that she ever mocked or insulted her colleague provides a clearer perspective on their relationship.
For now, the two stars remain giants in Afrobeats, each charting their own path on the global stage. Whether or not they collaborate again in the future, their shared history continues to capture the imagination of fans who still remember the Fever era with nostalgia.
As Tiwa herself put it: “I have never done that.”
Sometimes, silence may allow rumors to grow. But with this statement, Tiwa Savage has made her position clear.
