Popular TikToker Ojesanmi Afeez, known online as Salo, was reportedly robbed and shot in the Lekki area of Lagos State.
The incident, which occurred late Thursday night, was disclosed by fellow TikToker Tunde Perry, who often collaborates with Salo in live streams.
Perry reported that Salo was attacked at the AP filling station in Lekki, where assailants shot him in the leg and stole his gold chain.
Salo is currently receiving treatment at Perez Medcare Hospital, Lekki Phase 2.
Perry provided an update, saying, “They shot Salo in the leg and took his gold chain. Some boys rushed him to the hospital, and I’ve been there. His condition is critical, and we need to pray for him.”
A video circulating on social media shows Salo’s white AMG GLE 43 Mercedes Benz stained with blood, with a bullet casing visible on the driver’s seat.
The footage has sparked widespread concern among fans and followers, who have been sharing their prayers and well-wishes for the popular TikToker.
An anonymous eyewitness who visited the hospital described the seriousness of Salo’s condition. “When I arrived at the hospital, they didn’t allow me inside. The nurse said his condition is critical, and we should keep praying for him. It’s hard to say who he might have offended. Sometimes, you don’t even know who’s watching or targeting you. I hope he survives this and takes greater precautions.”
Salo had earlier expressed concerns about his safety in a video where he pleaded with his manager, Sula, for security.
In the video, Salo, also known as “Ogba President” by his fans, was seen urgently requesting, “Sula, please provide me with security. I need protection. Help me with one mobile policeman, Sula, my daddy.”
In addition to the incident, Salo had a recent disagreement with fellow TikToker Tobi Nation. The two clashed after Tobi Nation acquired a new apartment.
Salo claimed he had connected Tobi Nation with the agent who facilitated the purchase of his Lekki home, but Tobi Nation refuted this, stating he did not use the payment plan Salo had suggested.
Despite their differences, Tobi Nation expressed his concern over the attack, describing the news as “sad.” He visited the hospital but was also denied entry.
When contacted for confirmation, Lagos State Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin verified the incident. “Salo was indeed shot yesterday on Admiralty Way, Lekki. We have launched an investigation into the case, and I will provide further updates as we gather more information,” he stated.
The attack on Salo has highlighted growing security concerns for public figures, especially those in the social media space.
The TikTok community and Salo’s fans have flooded social media with messages of support, urging the police to ensure a thorough investigation.
The incident has also prompted discussions about the safety of influencers and content creators in Nigeria, with many calling for tighter security measures.
As authorities continue their investigation, fans remain hopeful for Salo’s recovery and await further updates from both his management team and the Lagos State Police.
