Famous American singer and songwriter, Taylor Swift, has dismissed rumours claiming she was jealous of her best friend, Selena Gomez, for getting married before her.
Selena Gomez recently tied the knot with music producer Benny Blanco in a private ceremony held in late September, with Taylor Swift among the star-studded guests.
Following the wedding, reports circulated online that Swift had joked about Gomez “beating her to the altar” during her speech at the event.

However, the pop superstar has now cleared the air, insisting the rumours were completely false.
Speaking during her recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Swift clarified that her comments were taken out of context.
She explained that her speech focused on their long friendship and the memories they shared, particularly their early years in the spotlight.
“I did do some light teasing about the way we dressed in 2008, the year we met. It was the year of deep, deep V-necks. It was the year of colorful skinny jeans,” Swift said with a laugh.
“I talked about how happy I am for her and just how beautiful it’s been to be a part of her life, but I did not make it about me.”
Swift emphasized that she made a conscious effort not to mention her own engagement to NFL star Travis Kelce during the ceremony, saying, “I made a point to not mention anything about my engagement. That day was all about Selena, and I was just happy to witness her joy.”
Her clarification comes after several tabloids claimed that Swift had made playful remarks about being “next in line” to marry, sparking speculation about tension between the two long-time friends.

The ‘Cruel Summer’ crooner also touched on her engagement to Kelce, revealing why she hadn’t informed her close friend and collaborator Ed Sheeran about the news directly. According to her, Sheeran doesn’t use a mobile phone, which makes communication a bit tricky.
“Ed doesn’t have a phone,” she explained. “So, if you want to reach him, it’s either through email or FaceTime. I just hadn’t gotten around to telling him yet.”
