“I struggled with acne years back. It was terrible. My desperation to cure it led me to buy a makeup that almost disfigured my face. It was embarrassing. I almost quit music. I couldn’t even approach women then,” he said.
The singer explained that after the success of his breakthrough track Zoom and signing to a record label, he became more conscious of his appearance, knowing he would frequently be in front of cameras.
“As a perfectionist, I wanted to clear it quickly. I went to get a makeup from a store, but instead it almost disfigured my face. I woke up one morning and realised that my whole face had been damaged,” he recalled.
Cheque disclosed that the difficult experience later inspired his hit song History featuring Fireboy DML.
He added that beyond his career, the acne struggle also affected his social life and confidence around cameras before he eventually overcame the challenge.
