Nollywood actress Sola Kosoko Abina has shared candid insights into the difficulties of combining a thriving acting career with other business ventures, describing the balancing act as “extremely challenging”.
In a recent interview, the actress explained that the nature of acting often leaves little room for additional income-generating pursuits.
According to her, the unpredictable schedules, long hours on set and constant mobility make it hard to manage a business successfully without reliable support.

“Acting doesn’t leave much room for other ventures,” she said. “At one point, I had a boutique where I sold clothes, bags, and jewellery, but it didn’t last. The job demands so much time, and the only way to make it work is to have a competent and trustworthy person to manage the business while you are on set.”
Kosoko Abina noted that many actors struggle with similar challenges, especially when trying to diversify their earnings or establish long-term financial stability outside the entertainment industry.
Speaking further on how she balances her professional life with family responsibilities, the actress emphasised the importance of having a supportive spouse.
“If you have an understanding husband who appreciates your profession, it becomes much easier,” she said. “I met my husband even before I became very popular, so he understands my job very well.”
Sola Kosoko Abina, who comes from one of Nollywood’s most respected film families, continues to maintain her presence on screen while navigating the realities of life as an actress, entrepreneur and family woman.
