Nigerian singer “Seyi Shay” has finally opened up about the root cause of her long-standing feud with fellow music star “Tiwa Savage”, revealing that her former personal assistant (PA) was at the centre of the bitter fallout.
Speaking on the “OffAir Show” with Gbemi and Toolz, the “Yolo Yolo” crooner recounted how her ex-staff secretly had a relationship with Tiwa Savage’s estranged husband, Tunji Balogun, popularly known as “TBillz”.
According to Seyi Shay, Savage likely assumed that she was aware of the affair and even encouraging it, which fueled years of tension between the two.
“To cut the long story short, it turns out the girl was having a relationship with my girl’s [Tiwa Savage’s] husband and I didn’t even know,” she disclosed. “She [my ex-PA] told me all of that. It must have been true; I don’t think she would say all of that as a joke.”

The singer explained that she only found out about the shocking revelation years later after unexpectedly running into the former PA in London. During their encounter, the ex-staff member admitted to her actions and apologised for the damage caused.
“When she told me this, I was disgusted because we were rolling together and doing things together, meanwhile Tiwa probably thought I knew about it. You can just imagine the anger. It’s so painful. If that was me, I would have done worse,” Seyi Shay confessed.
The revelation sheds light on one of Nigerian music’s most talked-about rivalries, which reached a peak in “June 2021” when the two stars had a heated confrontation in a Lagos salon.
The altercation, which was captured on video and went viral, shocked fans and deepened speculation about the cause of their bad blood.
For years, fans and industry watchers have tried to piece together the real reason behind their animosity, with many attributing it to competition, industry politics, or personal disagreements.
However, Seyi Shay’s recent confession appears to offer the first detailed explanation from one of the parties involved.
Despite the tension, both artists have continued to excel in their careers. Tiwa Savage, often hailed as the “Queen of Afrobeats,” has earned international recognition, performing at global stages and collaborating with stars like Brandy and Beyoncé.
Seyi Shay, meanwhile, has remained a prominent figure in the Nigerian music industry, known for her distinctive voice and hit singles.
“If that was me, I would have done worse,” she admitted, adding that the experience left her both hurt and disappointed.
The disclosure has reignited conversations online, with fans divided between sympathy for Seyi Shay and support for Tiwa Savage. Many observers now wonder whether this new clarity might open the door for the two Afrobeats stars to finally bury the hatchet.
