Maverick singer and activist Seun Kuti has denied allegations that he is using Grammy-winning Afrobeats star Wizkid’s name to chase clout or revive his career.
Kuti has recently faced criticism online after repeatedly calling out Wizkid and his fanbase during a series of livestreams, with some accusing him of stirring controversy to regain relevance.

Reacting to the claims during one of his livestream sessions, the Afrobeat musician insisted that his career has never been stunted and that he has no reason to seek attention through Wizkid’s name.
“Some people are saying I am trying to use Wizkid to revive my career. When did my career die for me to be trying to revive it?” Kuti said.
He went on to highlight his global performances as evidence of his continued relevance in the music industry.
“Last year alone, I did 82 shows globally. I sold out shows in Australia, Europe, America, and Brazil. I have people who are fans of my music worldwide,” he stated.
Using a metaphor to further explain his stance, Kuti added, “I call myself Big Bird because the sky is big for everybody. No matter how big you are, you can’t occupy the whole sky.”
He concluded by dismissing the accusations outright, saying those who truly need career revival are aware of it themselves.
“People whose careers need revival know themselves. It is not me,” he said.
