Legendary Fuji musician Saheed Osupa has expressed deep gratitude to Nigerian Afropop star Burna Boy after the Grammy-winning artist publicly named him as his “GOAT singer” on a global stage.
In a heartfelt message shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) page, Osupa described Burna Boy’s tribute as a “monumental moment” that celebrates not just his personal journey but the entire Fuji music tradition.
“Burna Boy’s heartfelt tribute, naming me as his GOAT singer on a global stage, is a monumental moment that celebrates the soul of Fuji music and its timeless influence,” Osupa wrote. “This honour, not only, uplifts my journey, but also shines a brilliant light on our rich cultural heritage, bridging generations and genres worldwide.”
The Fuji icon, who proudly refers to himself as Oba Orin (King of Music), thanked Burna Boy, whom he called “a true Afropop titan” for recognizing his contributions to African music.
