Nollywood actor Zubby Michael has stirred debate after urging Christians in Jos, Plateau State, to leave the city following the recent attack in the Angwan Rukuba Jos North Local Government Area (LGA), where dozens of people were reportedly killed.
Reacting on Instagram, the actor wrote, “Christians should leave Jos.” He added, however, that those responsible for the violence would eventually face consequences.
The comment immediately drew mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians arguing that leaving the city is not a realistic solution, especially because a large number of residents in Plateau State are Christians and have lived there for generations.

One user, Jerryluck, questioned where residents were expected to go, noting that many people have deep ancestral ties to the area. The user argued that communities should instead receive support and protection.
Another commenter, Riyanxeally, acknowledged the actor’s concern but said many families have built their entire lives in Jos and cannot simply start over elsewhere. The user insisted that the government must do more to address insecurity.
Others rejected the idea entirely. RechealJoseph said residents would not abandon what she described as their God-given land, while another user, Ifemeludike, argued that the issue goes beyond religion and should instead focus on confronting terrorism and demanding accountable leadership.
The debate also highlighted wider frustrations over insecurity and governance in Nigeria. Ndagima Adu argued that Nigerians need to move beyond religious and ethnic divisions in order to address the country’s problems.
The reactions come amid increasing concern over insecurity in Plateau State following the latest attack in Jos, which has sparked outrage from celebrities, activists and ordinary Nigerians alike.
