Ogun State – Controversial Nigerian singer Habeed Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, was arraigned on Monday at the Federal High Court in Ota, Ogun State, facing a nine-count criminal charge including assault, theft, causing harm, and resisting arrest.
According to Ogun State Police spokesperson Oluseyi Babaseyi, the charges stem from an incident allegedly involving Portable, his estranged partner Ashabi Simple, and several others at his bar in Iyana Ilogbo on New Year’s Day.

The prosecution claims Portable attacked Ashabi Simple alongside police officers and other individuals, while also allegedly stealing a Mercedes-Benz E300, valued at N12 million and owned by Ileyemi Damilola. Other alleged victims in the case include Akinyanju Oluwabusayomi, Olowu Olumide, Demilade Ogunniyi, and Ebuka Odah.
In court, two siblings of Ashabi Simple testified regarding the alleged assault, though Ashabi herself was absent. Police further accused Portable of obstructing and assaulting Inspector Ogungbe Olayemi while she was on official duty.
The presiding judge denied bail, citing the absence of the allegedly assaulted police officer, and insisted on her presence before making any ruling. Portable was subsequently remanded in custody, with a fresh bail application scheduled for January 19.
A viral video of Portable in police custody on Sunday has intensified public attention on the case, highlighting the escalating legal troubles of the singer in the aftermath of the New Year incident.
