Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has expressed frustration over what he described as poor earnings from music streaming platforms.
In a recent video, the ‘Zazu’ crooner lamented that despite consistently releasing new songs, his revenue from Apple Music remains very low.

According to Portable, he uploads music almost every month and believes his global fanbase should translate into higher income.
“I am in pain, I have been putting my song on Apple Music every month but the money I am generating is too low,” he said.
The singer also questioned claims that low payouts are due to the value of Nigerian streams, insisting that he has listeners outside the country.
“They said it is because Nigerian streams are cheap but I also have fans in America and all over the world. Where is the revenue from those foreign streams?” he asked.
Portable appealed to renowned music executive Don Jazzy for guidance on how to maximise earnings from streaming platforms.
“Don Jazzy, please, help me and teach me how to generate more money from music streams,” he said.
He further complained about how his earnings are shared, suggesting that multiple deductions or splits significantly reduce what he receives.
“The revenue that I receive is very low. They divide my earnings into 17. Please, come and teach me how to fetch music money,” he added.
Portable concluded by expressing confidence that with the right knowledge, he could significantly grow his income and compete at the highest level in the Nigerian music industry.
“If Don Jazzy teaches me how to generate more money from streaming platforms, I would be bigger than all artistes in Nigeria,” he said.
