Former Big Brother Naija housemate and Season 7 winner, Phyna, has expressed concern over what she described as the declining value and credibility of the reality show.
Speaking during a recent livestream, Phyna argued that many contestants who leave the BBNaija house no longer have what it takes to sustain successful careers afterward.
According to her, ex-housemates now rely on the same limited fanbase, which merely shifts loyalty from one contestant to another without growing.

She explained that the lack of new audiences has made it difficult for former housemates to thrive beyond the show.
“The steeze housemates do have on the show, they don’t have it again, because it’s the same fan base that moves from one to another. No new people, nothing new. It’s just the same people,” she said.
Phyna further claimed that BBNaija no longer commands the respect it once did, noting that being a former housemate does not carry the same prestige as in earlier seasons.
“And that aside, the show has lost credibility compared to the way it was before. When you tell someone now that you came out of BBNaija, they won’t rate you like they do then,” she added.
Phyna, whose real name is Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, won the seventh edition of the reality show, tagged ‘Level Up’, on October 2, 2022. She went home with the grand prize of N100 million, defeating fellow finalist Bryann with 40.74 per cent of the votes.
She remains the second female winner in the show’s history, following Mercy Eke, who won the 2019 edition.
