A wave of concern has swept through Nigeria’s gospel music community as popular musicians, including Yinka Alaseyori, Olabest, Alayo Melody, Lanre Alewilese, and others, publicly appealed for financial and medical support for their colleague, Bunmi Akinnaanu, widely known as Omije Ojumi.
The calls for assistance intensified after the veteran gospel singer was recently spotted at G.F. David Ministries in Ibadan, Oyo State, seeking divine healing for a troubling leg ailment.
The condition, which has not been officially diagnosed, has reportedly drained her finances and left her struggling to afford proper medical care.

In a video shared on his Instagram page, fellow gospel artist Lanre Alewilese made a heartfelt plea to the public, stressing the urgency of her situation.
He noted that the singer’s health had deteriorated further, despite earlier assumptions that her recovery was progressing.
“She really needs your support NOW!” Alewilese said emotionally as he displayed her account details for donations.
“God, in your mercy, please heal her. For God’s sake, I’m calling on both young and old, my brothers and sisters in the gospel industry, including Juju and Fuji musicians, let’s set religion aside and save the life of Sister Bunmi Akinanu, Omije Ojumi.”
Alewilese revealed that he had privately reached out to several colleagues but felt compelled to speak publicly so Nigerians could understand the severity of her condition.
He added that he was shocked when fellow musician Alayo informed him that the singer’s ailment had worsened, prompting multiple hospital visits.
“I thought God had taken control of her healing,” he said, “but I didn’t know she was still being moved from one hospital to another.”
Other musicians, including Yinka Alaseyori, Akinade Olubukola, Olabest, and Alayo Melody, also took to their social media pages to call for prayers and financial support.
Actress Foluke Daramola joined the campaign as well, urging fans, industry colleagues, and philanthropists to come to the singer’s aid.
The outpouring of solidarity highlights the respect Omije Ojumi has earned over the years for her inspirational gospel music and powerful worship ministry.
Her songs, often centred on hope, healing, and faith, have made her a beloved figure in Nigeria’s Christian music community.
However, her current health challenges have raised broader conversations about healthcare access for entertainers and the lack of sustainable support structures for artists facing medical and financial distress.
New Daily Prime reports that although the exact nature of Omije Ojumi’s condition remains unclear, the viral clip showing her seeking prayer support has sparked widespread sympathy.
As her colleagues rally around her, many Nigerians are hoping that the combined efforts of religious institutions, entertainers, and the wider public will help the gospel singer access the treatment she needs and return to full health.
