Afrobeats star Stanley Omah Didia, popularly known as Omah Lay, has set social media abuzz after posting a raw and emotional rant on Snapchat, revealing that he is once again struggling with depression.
The award-winning singer, known for blending introspection with Afrobeats rhythms, expressed frustration over his career choices and ongoing challenges within the music industry. His messages struck a chord with fans, many of whom expressed concern for his mental well-being.
In his outburst, Omah Lay did not hold back, calling out multiple aspects of his professional life, from contracts to record labels, as well as his past decisions.
“Fk contracts. Fk labels. Fk the music business. Fk my younger self. Fk my manager. God please, I’m losing my mind again,” he wrote.
The statement, which quickly went viral, has sparked speculation about whether the singer is battling both professional frustration and personal turmoil.
The timing of his rant is particularly notable as it comes just months after Omah Lay’s split with his former manager, Awoniyi, in July 2025.

At the time, Awoniyi described the separation as amicable, though Omah Lay’s labelmate, Kaestyle, claimed that Awoniyi had been fired.
Industry watchers have suggested that the fallout may have contributed to Omah Lay’s emotional state, especially as he navigates contractual obligations and the pressures of maintaining his place as one of Afrobeats’ leading voices.
Omah Lay has been remarkably open about his battles with depression in the past. His debut album, Boy Alone, released on July 15, 2022, was a deeply personal body of work that chronicled his struggles with loneliness, heartbreak, and inner demons.
In 2022, he revealed that an inappropriate relationship with his therapist had worsened his emotional state, leaving him in a vulnerable mental state.
Fans have long praised him for his willingness to speak candidly about mental health, with many finding comfort in his honesty and his unique “Afro-depression” sound.
Omah Lay has not yet issued a follow-up statement or clarified whether new music is on the way.
However, given his history of channelling personal pain into art, many believe that his next project, whenever it comes, could be one of his most powerful yet.
