Ace Nigerian rapper Olamide Adedeji, popularly known as Olamide Baddo, has reacted to the heated backlash trailing his recent declaration that Wizkid is the greatest Afrobeats artist after the late music legend Fela Kuti.
Olamide sparked massive debate earlier this week after commenting on a press conference in Toronto, Canada, where he praised Wizkid and reflected on their past collaborations.
His statement immediately triggered reactions across social media, with fans of Burna Boy and Davido strongly opposing his ranking.

Addressing the controversy in a post shared on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Friday, Olamide maintained that his statement was simply his personal opinion and not an attempt to discredit any artist.
He stressed that everyone is entitled to their own perspective.
According to the YBNL boss, there is enough space in the music industry for all artists to flourish without unnecessary competition or hostility.
“Honestly, this whole lengthy 3-way conversation is pretty much whatever. You can’t diminish anyone’s greatness, whether they’re A-list, B-list, or anything else. Feel free to believe what you want or support whoever you choose, there’s plenty of room in the sky for everyone,” he wrote.
Olamide further explained that Burna Boy, Davido, and Wizkid have achieved global success partly because they are not narrow-minded or easily offended by differing opinions about their craft.
“One thing to remember is that Burna, David, and Wiz aren’t narrow-minded enough to get offended by someone else’s opinion or perspective. That’s part of why they’ve reached where they are today,” he added.
His response has also generated fresh conversations online, with many fans praising him for taking a mature stance, while others insist that the debate about who ranks next after Fela in Afrobeats lineage will continue.
Olamide remains one of the industry’s most respected voices, having influenced multiple generations of artists through his music and YBNL record label, which has produced stars like Adekunle Gold, Lil Kesh, Fireboy DML, and Asake.
