Famous Nigerian singer Niniola Apata has finally addressed the swirling rumours that she is secretly married.
The Maradona crooner, who has kept a relatively low profile in recent months, dismissed the claims in a recent interview with Yanga FM Lagos, clarifying that she is not married and has no reason to hide such information if it were true.
Reacting to reports that her absence from the spotlight was due to marriage, Niniola made it clear that her personal life is not something she owes the public an explanation for.

“I don’t care whatever anyone does or says [regarding my personal life]. After all, I’m not a 12-year-old. I’m old enough to say whatever it is I want to say with my full chest. I’m not married,” she stated firmly.
The 38-year-old Afro-House singer emphasised that she is focused on her music and business ventures, not on rumours. She also debunked claims that she was keeping her alleged marriage a secret to protect her career or avoid public scrutiny.
Niniola, known for hit songs such as Sicker, Boda Sodiq, and Designer, has built a reputation as one of Nigeria’s most versatile and consistent female performers.
Despite staying out of the gossip scene, her name often surfaces in online conversations about relationships and family, especially given her blood ties to another music star, Teni Apata.
When asked why she has not collaborated musically with her younger sister Teni, Niniola explained that such a project must happen organically and under the right circumstances.
“People keep asking why I haven’t done a song with Teni. For me, it has to happen at the right time and under the right conditions,” she said. “Music is business, and there’s no family in business. Everything must be done strategically.”
Her response reflects a professional approach to her craft, suggesting that despite their sibling bond, both artists treat their music careers as independent brands.
The singer, who rose to prominence after finishing third runner-up in the 2013 Project Fame West Africa competition, has since carved out her own lane in the Nigerian music industry with her signature Afro-House sound, a rare blend of Afrobeat, electronic, and traditional African rhythms.

Her recent remarks not only put to rest the marriage rumours but also reaffirmed her commitment to music on her own terms.
As for a possible collaboration with Teni, Niniola hinted that it could happen someday, but only when the timing feels right.
“When it happens, it will be worth the wait,” she said with a smile.
