Nollywood actress and popular TV host Nancy Isime has opened up about her difficult early days as a young model and event usher.
At just 17 years old, she faced many challenges, including working late-night jobs without reliable transportation to get home. In a candid social media post, Isime revealed how those tough times shaped her journey to success.
Nancy shared that during those early years, she often had to walk long distances late at night or sleep on benches, chairs, or rugs at event venues. “I remember many nights when I had no way to get home after work,” she said. “Sometimes, I slept on benches or chairs at events because I was too tired and there was no transport available.”
Her family was deeply concerned about her safety during these nights. “My family, especially my dad, worried a lot about me,” Nancy recalled. But she added with a smile, “I’m a dangerous gyal, and it’s best to let me figure out life my way. Otherwise, the rebellion is quite rebellious.”
Isime hails singer Yemi Alade
During these struggles, Nancy found a much-needed refuge through an unexpected source, Nigerian singer Yemi Alade. The two had met through mutual friends, and Nancy decided to reach out for help.
“I approached Yemi and asked if I could stay with her for a while because I needed a safe place to rest,” Nancy said. To her relief, Yemi welcomed her without hesitation. “She let me stay for weeks and never once complained. The peace I found there was overwhelming.”
Nancy described Yemi as kind, considerate, and full of positive energy. “Many years later, I still have the softest spot for Yemi. I am forever grateful to her for being one of the bookmarks of kindness and generosity in my life,” she said warmly.
The singer’s generosity came at a crucial time. It gave Nancy the stability she needed to continue pursuing her dreams. After gaining admission into university, Nancy was finally able to rent her apartment, conveniently located in the same building as Yemi’s home.
“This was a major turning point for me,” Nancy explained. “Being close to Yemi allowed our friendship to grow even stronger.” The two stars remain close friends to this day. “My Padi @yemialade, I dey for you for life!” Nancy wrote, showing the deep bond, they share.
Nancy Isime’s story is a powerful reminder that success is rarely instant. Behind the glitz and glamour, there are often years of hardship and perseverance. Her journey from walking home late at night to becoming a celebrated actress and TV personality reflects her strength and determination.
She also highlights the importance of kindness and support from others along the way. Yemi Alade’s open heart gave Nancy not just a roof over her head but also hope and peace during a critical moment in her life.
Today, both women continue to shine in their careers, but their friendship stands out as a touching example of generosity and loyalty in the entertainment industry. Nancy’s story encourages many young people to keep pushing forward, no matter how tough the path may seem.
The singer’s message to her fans and followers is clear: “Life can be hard, but don’t give up. Help often comes from unexpected places, and sometimes a simple act of kindness can change your life forever.”
