Nigerian singer and entrepreneur, Mr Eazi, has suggested that his music earnings alone could not have covered the cost of his recent wedding to actress Temi Otedola, daughter of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola.
The singer, whose real name is Oluwatosin Ajibade, commented while reacting to speculation online about his finances.
An X user had claimed that Mr Eazi released his new single, Cassanova, in an attempt to recoup money spent on the wedding. Responding with humour, the Leg Over crooner wrote: “U think sey music go fit pay for that wedding my G? lol.”
The post sparked debate about the scale of the ceremony and how it was funded. While some fans assumed the singer could afford the expenses through music royalties and performances, Mr Eazi appeared to dismiss that assumption.
Another X user pointed out that the singer’s earnings in 2018 could have easily funded the wedding. But Mr Eazi clarified that the period was financially challenging, despite his string of hits at the time.
“You got a point tho, but 2017-18 is the brokest I’ve been in the last 9 years! But all the music I put out then enter like mad sha im really thankful,” he explained.
The revelation surprised fans who assumed that the success of songs like Leg Over, Pour Me Water, and Skin Tight had translated into massive wealth.

Mr Eazi stressed that while the songs performed well globally, his financial reality during that time was far from glamorous.
Mr Eazi and Temi Otedola tied the knot in a private ceremony in Iceland earlier this month. The wedding was attended by close family members and friends, with limited public details released about the event. The serene and intimate setting reflected the couple’s desire to keep the moment personal, despite their celebrity status.
The pair first announced their engagement in April 2022 after Mr Eazi proposed during a romantic getaway in London. The proposal video, which showed Temi’s surprise and emotional reaction, quickly went viral across social media.
The relationship itself began years earlier, introduced through Temi’s older sister, DJ Cuppy. Mr Eazi has often spoken about how he met Temi during an outing with Cuppy, who was his close friend at the time.
While he may downplay music as the primary source of funding for his wedding, Mr Eazi is widely regarded as one of Afrobeats’ most business-savvy stars. In addition to his music career, he has invested in several ventures across technology, fashion, and talent incubation.
Through his company emPawa Africa, he has supported emerging artists, offering funding and mentorship that helped launch careers such as Joeboy’s. He has also put money into African startups, positioning himself as a major player in the tech and creative economy.
These ventures, alongside his performances and endorsements, have given him financial flexibility beyond music royalties alone. Fans speculate that his wider investments may have contributed significantly to the wedding expenses.
For Mr Eazi and Temi, the wedding marks another chapter in their relationship, which has long been admired by fans. Despite their different backgrounds, the couple has maintained a low-profile, drama-free relationship, often sharing glimpses of their bond through social media.
With their Iceland ceremony now complete, the focus returns to Mr Eazi’s career. His latest single Cassanova has already begun making waves, while his business ventures continue to expand across Africa.
One thing is clear: whether or not music alone funded his wedding, Mr Eazi and Temi Otedola have built a partnership that goes beyond money and fame.
