A Lagos State Magistrate Court sitting in Ikorodu has approved three foreign laboratories to conduct a DNA test on Liam, the son of the late singer Mohbad.
Counsel to the singer’s father, Oladayo Ogungbe, disclosed the development after the court session. According to him, the court authorised one laboratory in the United States and two in the United Kingdom for the exercise.

He explained that all parties involved will be present during the collection of samples. The singer’s widow, Wunmi, and his father, Joseph Aloba, were allowed to nominate one laboratory each, while the court selected an independent facility.
“The court has eventually picked three DNA laboratory centres, two in the United Kingdom and one in the United States. One from us, one from them, and the court picked an independent one,” Ogungbe stated.
New Daily Prime reports that the decision follows a demand by Mohbad’s father for a DNA test on Liam amid controversies surrounding the singer’s death in September 2023 at his residence.
The matter has been adjourned to April 7, 2026, for the collection of samples, which welfare officers will monitor.
