Nigerian rapper Jude Abaga, better known by his stage name M.I Abaga, has opened up about the vital role his wife, Eniola Mafe, plays in his life and career.
The award-winning hip-hop star described her as “the most supportive person” he has ever known.
Speaking on a recent episode of the Outside The Box podcast, M.I shared heartfelt details about how his wife has stood by him both personally and professionally.
He noted that Mafe has been present in almost every aspect of his work, from his music career to his business ventures.
According to the rapper, her dedication was clear from the very beginning. When he launched his company, TASCK, and needed to raise funds, Mafe was the first person to make a financial contribution.
“When I started trying to raise money for TASCK, she was the first person that gave me a cheque,” M.I said. “That moment meant so much to me because it showed how much she believed in what I was building.”

Beyond financial support, Mafe has also been hands-on in his creative process. M.I explained that she often accompanies him to the studio, attends shows, and even films some of his online content. “She supports my music-making process. She filmed many of my clips online. She is always supportive,” he noted.
The rapper further revealed that his wife’s contributions go beyond presence. He said she often provides valuable insights on matters he may not have considered deeply.
“Sometimes I tell her that I don’t need her advice yet because I haven’t thought about an issue fully,” he admitted. “But by the time I realize it, she has already written a ten-page exposé on the matter. That is how invested she is.”
M.I, who has been a major voice in Nigerian hip-hop for over a decade, expressed gratitude for what he called a “rare gift.”
He emphasised that his wife’s sacrifices are even more remarkable because she is also a career woman with her professional responsibilities.
“She has her own work o! But every free time she gets, she comes to me,” he said. “She is at my shows, in the studio, at my meetings, and even helps me with designs. It is such a blessing to have her.”
The rapper’s testimony sheds light on the often-overlooked role of partners in the entertainment industry. For many artists, success is not achieved alone but with the support of loved ones who stay present behind the scenes. In M.I’s case, he makes it clear that Mafe is not just a partner but also an active participant in his journey.
Their story also reflects a growing trend of Nigerian entertainers publicly acknowledging the influence of their spouses. By speaking openly about her support, M.I offers a rare glimpse into the personal side of his life, one that goes beyond the spotlight of music and fame.
Mafe, who has a professional background in international development and policy, married the rapper in 2022 in a ceremony that drew attention across the Nigerian entertainment industry. Since then, the couple has maintained a strong presence together, often seen at events and collaborating on projects that bridge music, business, and social impact.
For M.I, who has built a reputation not only as a musician but also as a cultural voice and entrepreneur, his wife’s backing appears to provide both stability and encouragement. He admitted that her involvement helps him stay grounded and focused, even when the demands of the industry grow overwhelming.
In his words, “She is the most supportive person. It is such a gift to have her by my side.”
M.I’s revelation is a reminder that behind many successful figures lies a network of quiet strength. In his case, that strength comes from his wife, whose unwavering support continues to shape his path.
