Nollywood actress Lizzy Gold has broken her silence on a long-running rift with fellow actress Destiny Etiko, revealing that gossip in the movie industry drove a wedge between them.
In a candid Instagram post seen by New Daily Prime, Gold shared that she and Etiko stopped speaking for two years because of false stories spread by rumour peddlers in Nollywood. She described the period as a lonely time in her life.
According to Gold, the feud began after misleading narratives made their way to Etiko, creating mistrust and distance between them.
“Two years ago, we separated as friends because of ‘them say’ in Nollywood,” she wrote. “I became lonely because I don’t make friends easily like you do.”
Despite the fallout, Gold expressed admiration for Etiko’s warm and outgoing personality. She described her colleague as the only person in the industry who truly understands her. “You are sociable, friendly, and open. In this industry, you are the only one who gets me,” she said.

Gold went on to thank Etiko for mending their friendship, acknowledging that her friend had realised the truth and returned. “Thank God you realised you were deceived and came back,” she added.
The actress also took a swipe at those who fuelled the misunderstanding, stressing that she has now developed a thick skin against negativity. She urged Etiko to ignore outside voices and never allow third parties to influence their relationship again.
Her message was both a personal reflection and a public appeal to stop the toxic gossip culture in Nollywood. She emphasised that rumours can easily destroy genuine relationships if people are not careful.
The reconciliation between the two actresses has sparked conversations among fans, many of whom are relieved to see them together again. Social media users have flooded their pages with supportive comments, praising them for putting the past behind them and choosing peace.
Destiny Etiko, known for her vibrant personality and close connection with colleagues, has not yet made a separate statement about the reunion. However, her recent interactions with Lizzy Gold on social media suggest that the friendship is back on track.
For many, the public mending of their relationship serves as a reminder that misunderstandings in the entertainment industry are often fuelled by third-party interference. Both actresses now appear committed to protecting their bond from future distractions.
By sharing her side of the story, Lizzy Gold has offered fans a rare glimpse into the challenges of maintaining trust and friendship in Nollywood. Her decision to speak out signals a fresh chapter for her and Etiko, one built on forgiveness, mutual respect, and a united front against gossip.
