Nigerian dancer and former Big Brother Naija star, Roseline Omokhoa Afije, popularly known as Liquorose, has opened up about the setback she faced during her first attempt to join the reality show.
Speaking in a recent podcast interview with VJ Adams, Liquorose revealed that she nearly made it to the Big Brother Naija house in 2020 but was dropped at the last minute despite being backstage and fully prepared for the launch.

“In 2020, I was backstage at the BBNaija opening show. I was dressed up and makeup done, but I was not called. That really hurt me,” she said.
The dancer explained that the experience left her deeply discouraged and contributed to a period of depression, making her consider abandoning her dream of joining the show.
Liquorose and another potential housemate, Jaypaul, were reportedly dropped from the 2020 lineup after testing positive for COVID-19. However, both returned to audition the following year.
She admitted that she initially did not want to audition again because the previous year’s disappointment weighed heavily on her. A friend, however, convinced her to give it another try.
“That experience was messing with me. So, the following year, I didn’t even want to audition. But my friend convinced me to try. I just auditioned and forgot about it. I later checked my spam folder one day and discovered that I had been selected. It was crazy,” she recalled.
Liquorose went on to participate in the 2021 edition of the show, where she became the runner-up of Big Brother Naija Season 6, losing the grand prize to Whitemoney.
