Nollywood actor and award-winning producer Lateef Adedimeji has opened up about the deliberate casting choices for his latest project, Lisabi, a film set in the era of the old Oyo Empire. In coalition with his wife, MoBimpe, Adedimeji intentionally appointed actors Ibrahim Chatta and Adebowale Adebayo, known as Mr. Macaroni, for key roles.
During an interview on “Nollywood on Radio,” Adedimeji clarified that casting Chatta as “Olori Ilari” was a decision made early in the scriptwriting process. After much review, he finalized that no other actor could embody the role better than Chatta. MoBimpe had also long anticipated working with Chatta, and Lisabi provided the perfect opportunity.
Mr. Macaroni’s role as “Osokenu,” Lisabi’s close friend, was equally intentional. Adedimeji highlighted the strong bond they formed after working together on the set of Ayinla, where they played similar roles. Their chemistry and shared understanding on-screen made Macaroni the natural choice for the part.
MoBimpe further confirmed her husband’s sentiments, noting that Mr. Macaroni’s close friendship with Adedimeji was evident when he stood as his best man at their wedding.
