Veteran Nigerian Fuji singer, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as Kwam 1, has shut down rumours of a reunion with his estranged wife, Fathia Titi Marshall.
The 68-year-old musician firmly stated that Titi is no longer part of his life and will not be returning.
In a recent exclusive interview with journalist Stella Dimoko-Korkus, Kwam 1 also dismissed widespread reports that his current wife, Aderopo Emmanuella, had left their matrimonial home due to the alleged reconciliation with Titi and her children.
Rumours sparked after Sallah
Speculation about trouble in the Fuji star’s marriage surfaced after the Eid-el-Kabir (Sallah) celebration. Online reports suggested that Kwam 1 had reconciled with Titi Marshall, and that her return, with her children, had caused a rift in his current home, prompting Emmanuella to reportedly move out.
Social media platforms were flooded with gossip and unconfirmed stories, fueling talk of a marriage crisis in the singer’s household.
Kwam 1 clears the air
Setting the record straight, Kwam 1 declared that he has no romantic relationship with Titi Marshall and will not reconcile with her. While he acknowledged their past, he emphasised that she is no longer part of his present or future.
“Titi Marshall is gone forever,” he said, adding, “But I can’t shut my eyes to the three children we had together just because she is no longer with me.”
He noted that maintaining a relationship with his children from the previous marriage should not be mistaken for a reunion with their mother.
Kwam 1 defends relationship with Emmanuella
Addressing the rumours about Emmanuella leaving their home, Kwam 1 clarified that they are still together. He stressed that there is no separation or crisis in their marriage.
“I am not estranged from Emmanuella. We don’t have any problems,” he stated. “It’s a natural thing for a woman to feel jealous sometimes. But every relationship has boundaries and rules. That’s what matters.”
He revealed that he had advised Emmanuella to stay away from social media and focus on her business, suggesting that her reaction may have been triggered by that advice.
Social media and family life
Kwam 1 expressed his concerns about the impact of social media on personal relationships. He said that Emmanuella, who has grown-up children already in university, should prioritise more meaningful aspects of life rather than online trends.
“She has every right to her reaction,” he admitted. “But these are not social media issues. These are real-life matters. She’s not getting younger, and she has responsibilities. I only asked her to concentrate on what matters.”
He added that he has no intention of taking another wife, and reaffirmed that Emmanuella remains his one and only partner.
A look back at his marriages
Kwam 1 married Titi Marshall in 2018, but the union later ended. In 2021, he tied the knot with Emmanuella in a high-profile ceremony that drew attention across the country.
Despite the public nature of his relationships, Kwam 1 insists that his personal life remains a private affair. He called on fans and the media to respect his family and avoid spreading false narratives.
Final word
“I’m focused on my family and my music,” he concluded. “People will always talk, but I owe no one explanations beyond the truth. Emmanuella is my wife. I’m not going back to Titi.”
Kwam 1’s comments mark a clear attempt to set the record straight and bring calm to the swirling gossip. For now, he appears committed to preserving peace in his home and continuing his legacy as one of Nigeria’s most iconic Fuji musicians.
