The family of late Nollywood actor Junior Pope has been hit with another devastating loss.
His father, Ozor Luke Odonwodo, has passed away, just one year after the actor’s tragic death.
Jennifer Awele, the widow of Junior Pope, shared the news on her Instagram page. In a heartfelt post, she revealed that her father-in-law died in his 80s. She described him as a kind-hearted, devoted father who lived a full life surrounded by love and dedication to family.
A life of love and sacrifice
In her tribute, Jennifer recalled her final moments with the elder Odonwodo, just weeks before his passing. She spoke warmly about his deep affection for her and his role in the family, especially during a period of grief following her husband’s untimely death.
“Barely one month ago, I was with you in Enugu,” she wrote. “Some days later, my mother-in-law, Reme, called to ask how I and the boys were doing. Then she said her husband had gone to join my husband.”
Jennifer said the news hit her like a wave. “I screamed,” she continued. “But I had to quickly hold myself together because she started crying after hearing my reaction.”
She described Ozor Luke as “one man that genuinely loved me,” and said she was grateful for the time they had together, even though it turned out to be his last days.
A father ho lived well
Jennifer praised her father-in-law as a man who “lived a good life, paid his dues, sacrificed a lot for his family and loved ones, and happily reaped the fruits of his labour.”
She reflected on the strength he showed throughout his life and the deep bond they shared as a family. In her message, she prayed for strength for her mother-in-law and other family members left behind.
“Reme, Nwanyioma, this is a lot to deal with in one year,” she wrote. “But I pray that God gives you and all of us the strength to keep pushing, no matter how hard it gets.”
She ended her tribute with a note of faith and farewell. “Adieu father and son. You are sorely missed, but we hold onto the resurrection promises in John 5:28-29 and Acts 24:15. May your gentle souls rest in perfect peace till we meet to part no more.”
