Nigerian singer and Senior Special Assistant to the Abia State Governor on Tourism and Entertainment, Martins Okechukwu Justice, popularly known as J Martins, has expressed deep gratitude to God after surviving a terrifying car accident along the Enugu-Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway on Monday.
According to reports, the accident occurred when the musician’s vehicle suffered a sudden brake failure while he was driving at high speed.
The mechanical fault caused the car to lose control and veer off the busy expressway before plunging deep into a nearby bush.

Speaking about the incident, J Martins described the experience as “a terrible encounter with death,” recalling how everything happened within seconds.
“It was indeed a horrible experience, but I’m grateful to God for sparing my life. I saw death, but God gave me a second chance,” he said.
The “Oyoyo” crooner added that he emerged from the wreckage without any major injuries, a miracle that he attributes entirely to divine intervention.
“My car was badly damaged, but I came out without a single scratch. I can’t explain it; I can only thank God for His mercy. This is not something I take for granted,” he said.
Sources close to the artist revealed that the accident occurred while he was returning from a private engagement in Enugu.
His team members and some passersby quickly rushed to the scene to rescue him. The car was later towed from the bush, showing visible signs of heavy damage to the front and sides, particularly around the bonnet and windshield area.
J Martins, who has been a household name in the Nigerian music scene since the early 2000s, is widely celebrated for his string of hit songs, including Good or Bad, Touchin’ Body, Oyoyo, and Jupa.
In recent years, he has taken on a political role, serving as the Senior Special Assistant on Tourism and Entertainment to the Abia State Governor, where he advocates for youth empowerment and the development of the state’s creative sector.
Reflecting on his close call with death, J Martins urged Nigerians always to maintain their vehicles and be prayerful before embarking on long journeys.
“No matter how careful you are, anything can happen. It is only God that truly protects,” he cautioned.
He also hinted that the near-death experience had strengthened his faith and renewed his commitment to life and purpose.
“This experience has reminded me of what truly matters, family, faith, and gratitude. I’ll keep giving thanks for the gift of life,” he concluded.
