Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has made a passionate appeal to music superstars Wizkid and Tiwa Savage, calling on them to join the ongoing campaign for justice for the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
Speaking during a recent Instagram livestream with her fans, Ojo emphasised the need for influential artists to support younger talents who look up to them.
She argued that Mohbad, who died under controversial circumstances in 2023, drew inspiration from top musicians like Wizkid and Tiwa Savage, and deserved to be protected, even in death.
“These young boys come from the slums and ghettos, just like many of you did,” Ojo said. “They saw your success stories and wanted to be like you. Their talent is undeniable. Music has become one of the biggest exports from Nigeria, and we cannot afford to let that be destroyed.”

She continued, “Wizkid and Tiwa Savage, I need you. Nigeria is blessed with so many gifted artists. We must not allow cults or oppressive forces to silence these talents. These young musicians are putting Nigeria on the world map and giving millions of people joy. We must protect them.”
Ojo compared the current struggles of younger artists to the harsh experiences faced by music legends like Fela Kuti, King Sunny Ade, and 2Baba during their early years. She warned that history must not repeat itself.
“We will not allow what happened to Fela, King Sunny Ade, and 2Baba in the hands of record label executives and government authorities to happen again,” she declared. “These artists paved the way, and now it’s our duty to ensure the next generation of musicians does not suffer the same fate.”
Mohbad, a fast-rising Afrobeats singer and former signee of Marlian Records, died in September 2023 under unclear circumstances. His death sparked widespread outrage, protests, and calls for accountability, particularly directed at his former record label boss, Naira Marley, and close associate Sam Larry.
While many fans and activists continue to demand justice, the case remains unresolved. Naira Marley has consistently denied any involvement in Mohbad’s death. He has also issued multiple public statements and videos to defend himself.

Earlier this year, a Lagos court dismissed a lawsuit filed by Mohbad’s father against Naira Marley and Sam Larry. The court ruled that there was not enough evidence to establish a direct link between the duo and the singer’s death. The ruling was met with mixed reactions, with many fans expressing disappointment at the lack of closure.
Iyabo Ojo, who has been one of the most vocal public figures seeking justice for Mohbad, insisted that the fight must continue until the truth is known. She stressed that prominent artists must use their platforms to speak out, not just for Mohbad, but for all young creatives trying to find their place in the industry.
“The industry is watching. The world is watching. We need more voices, especially from those the younger generation considers their heroes,” she said. “They trusted you, they followed your footsteps. Now is the time to lead by example and stand for what is right.”
Ojo’s remarks have sparked new conversations across social media, with many users supporting her call to action. Fans are now urging Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, and other A-list artists to publicly support the #JusticeForMohbad campaign and put pressure on the authorities to properly investigate the singer’s death.
As the case remains open, public attention continues to grow. For many Nigerians, Mohbad’s story is a painful reminder of the dangers artists face behind the scenes, and the urgent need for reform in the country’s music industry.
