Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, widely known as 2Baba, has pushed back against what he describes as a long-standing misconception about his personal life, insisting that he is not a womaniser but someone who loves deeply.
In an interview with Voice of Nigeria shared on Wednesday, the award-winning artiste spoke candidly about public perception, fatherhood, and life in the spotlight.
“The biggest misconception about me is that I’m a womaniser. I like women; I’m just straightforward. But I’m a lover boy. I love hard,” 2Baba said.
Reflecting on his role as a father, the singer admitted that juggling a successful music career with parenting has been one of his most difficult challenges.
Now a father of eight, he said he feels both gratitude and regret.
“I have eight kids now. I feel blessed and happy, but the sadness comes from the fact that I haven’t gotten to spend the type of time I should have spent with them collectively. It does something to me sometimes,” he said.
Despite his busy schedule, 2Baba described his children as a major source of fulfillment.
“They’re amazing, brilliant people. I just wish I was there more. It touches me from all corners,” he added.
The singer also addressed public criticism aimed at his wife, Natasha, particularly suggestions that she exerts undue influence over him. He dismissed such claims as unfounded and reflective of the intrusive nature of public commentary.
“Everybody has a say in everybody’s business now. Sometimes people say very nasty things.
“You grow thick skin, but sometimes it gets to you. Reality is reality, she’s a brilliant woman, a strong woman,” he said.
2Baba further revealed a lesser-known side of his personality, describing himself as naturally introverted despite his high-profile career.
“My profession doesn’t permit me to be shy, but I’m actually a very shy person.
“Sometimes I just want to be alone and chill. Other times I want to hang out. I like nature; I have my moments,” he said.
