Controversial relationship therapist and social media personality, Blessing Okoro, widely known as Blessing CEO, has fired back at critics who are sceptical about her blossoming relationship with auto dealer Ikechukwu Ogbonna, popularly called IVD.
In a recent Instagram video, Blessing CEO addressed the growing criticism from individuals who believe her relationship is doomed to fail. She described such thinking as a reflection of emotional damage caused by past trauma, social media influence, and fear of vulnerability.
“Many are emotionally damaged,” she says
Speaking passionately in the video, Blessing explained that many people find it hard to believe in love and healthy relationships because they are emotionally scarred by personal or observed experiences.
“A lot of you are damaged,” she said. “When you are damaged, anything beautiful feels too good to be true. Being damaged is not an insult. It’s a mental and emotional condition that stems from pain we’ve suffered in the past.”
She noted that many individuals who once admired celebrity marriages have grown cynical due to the high rate of divorce and public relationship scandals.
Social media and the fear of love
Blessing went on to criticise the toxic influence of social media on people’s perception of love and relationships. According to her, online platforms have filled people’s minds with negativity, causing them to project failure onto happy couples.
“Social media has planted a lot of chaos in your minds,” she said. “So now, anytime you see a beautiful relationship, you’re just waiting for it to crash.”
She argued that some people have become so fearful and distrustful that they not only give up on love themselves but also root for the downfall of others.
“Some of you haven’t even gone through heartbreak, yet you carry the pain of others and live by it. That’s not healthy,” she warned.
Relationship challenges are normal
Blessing CEO acknowledged that no relationship is perfect. She pointed out that conflicts and misunderstandings are natural between two people, especially when they come from different backgrounds. However, she emphasised that love is proven through forgiveness, growth, and mutual understanding.
“Relationships and marriages come with ups and downs,” she stated. “You’ll see breakups and make-ups, that’s normal. Even with your blood relatives, you fight. So, it’s expected with a stranger. But love shows itself when you’re ready to forgive and move forward.”
She referenced a biblical principle, saying, “Love means forgiving seventy times seven. That’s how you know it’s real.”
Healing is the key to finding love
Blessing urged her critics to stop generalising their pain and projecting it onto others. Instead, she encouraged them to reflect, grow, and allow themselves to feel again.
“It’s from the choices we make in partners that we sometimes get hurt. But instead of being bitter, learn from those experiences. Heal, evolve, and grow,” she said.
She warned that many people might never find love simply because they are too scared to be vulnerable again. According to her, healing is the only way to attract and appreciate good things.
“I want you to understand that always thinking negatively, even when something good comes your way, is a sign of being emotionally damaged,” she stressed. “You need to heal so you can recognise that you deserve happiness when it finally comes.”
Tying the knot with IVD
Blessing’s message comes as her relationship with IVD continues to draw public attention. The pair are reportedly preparing to get married soon, a development that has stirred both support and criticism online.
Despite the backlash, Blessing remains confident in her decision. Her recent message is not just a defense of her relationship but also a broader call for self-awareness, healing, and emotional growth.
In her closing remarks, she encouraged her followers to stop living in fear and open their hearts to love again.
“Good things still exist. Love still exists. But you must be open to see it and believe that you’re worthy of it.”
