Popular Nigerian social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, has revealed that a petition he filed against controversial relationship therapist Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, has been approved for investigation by the Inspector General of Police.
The development is the latest twist in the controversy surrounding Blessing CEO’s recent claim that she was battling stage four cancer.

VeryDarkMan disclosed in a video shared on his official Instagram page, where he explained why he decided to involve the police.
According to him, he was one of the people who believed Blessing CEO’s emotional appeal and even donated money to support her treatment.
The controversy began on March 25, 2026, when Blessing CEO posted a tearful video on Instagram claiming that she had been diagnosed with stage four cancer.
In the video, she appeared visibly emotional and displayed signs of hair loss, which she said was caused by the illness.
She also claimed that she had started selling some of her properties to raise money for treatment.
The video quickly went viral and generated sympathy from fans, followers and members of the public.
Many people reached out with messages of encouragement, while others reportedly sent money to assist her.
Among those who responded was VeryDarkMan.
The outspoken social media personality said he felt moved by her situation, especially after seeing that she had shaved her hair.
According to him, he did not question the story at the time because he believed her suffering was genuine.
“I believed her because she shaved her hair, and I felt compassion,” he said in the video.
“On that very day, I didn’t have anything left in my account, but I still transferred money to her.”
However, questions later emerged about the authenticity of the medical report Blessing CEO shared online to support her claim.
The document, which she said confirmed that she had stage four cancer, was allegedly issued by Xinus Medical Diagnostics and signed by consultant pathologist Dr. O.A. Odigwe.
As the report continued to circulate, the Nigerian Medical Association, Delta State chapter, released a statement distancing itself from the document.
The association explained that the report did not belong to Blessing CEO.
According to the NMA, the original medical report had actually been issued to another patient, Mrs Deborah Mbara, who had been diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2025.
The association stated that the version shared online by Blessing CEO appeared to have been altered from the original document.
The NMA also clarified that Xinus Medical Diagnostics is located in Asaba, Delta State, and not in Enugu State as indicated in the report being circulated.
The revelation intensified the controversy and led to widespread criticism of Blessing CEO.
Many Nigerians accused her of misleading the public and taking advantage of people’s sympathy.
Following the backlash, Blessing CEO later denied that she had stage four cancer.
Speaking in an interview, she said her earlier claim had been misunderstood.
“I don’t have stage four cancer. That was a miscommunication,” she stated.
She also disclosed that the donations she received from the public amounted to 13 million naira.
Shortly after the interview, Blessing CEO deactivated her social media account.
VeryDarkMan said the situation left him deeply disappointed because there are many people genuinely struggling with cancer who deserve public support.
According to him, pretending to have such an illness for sympathy or financial assistance is unfair and insensitive.
“There are a lot of people living with cancer. How can someone come out and joke with something like this?” he asked.
The activist explained that after learning about the alleged alteration of the report, he decided to take legal action.
He said he formally submitted a petition to the Nigeria Police Force, urging the authorities to investigate the matter.
“I have written a petition against Blessing CEO, and the Inspector General of Police has assigned it for investigation,” he revealed.
Although he did not disclose the exact contents of the petition, his comments suggest that he wants the police to examine whether any laws were broken in relation to the alleged use of another person’s medical record and the donations received from the public.
The announcement has generated mixed reactions online.
Some social media users praised VeryDarkMan for taking action and said the matter should be thoroughly investigated.
Others argued that the controversy should be resolved privately rather than through the police.
However, many people insisted that because members of the public donated money based on the cancer claim, there should be accountability.
The case has also sparked broader conversations about the dangers of misinformation on social media and the need to verify emotional claims before sharing or donating money.
It has further raised concerns about the misuse of medical records and the ethical implications of using another person’s illness to gain public sympathy.
For now, attention remains on the police investigation and whether Blessing CEO will publicly address the latest development.
