Award-winning Nollywood filmmaker and actress Funke Akindele has appealed to her fans and movie lovers to respect her latest film, Behind The Scenes, by refraining from recording or sharing clips from cinemas.

According to her, piracy undermines the hard work, time, and resources invested in producing quality films and discourages creative efforts in the industry.
She urged fans to help spread the message and support the movie legally by watching it in cinemas without recording.
“Say no to direct and indirect piracy,” Akindele wrote. “Hello my beautiful fans. We’re super excited that Behind The Scenes is showing in cinemas, but please let’s say a big no to recording any scenes of the movie in the cinema. Recording or posting clips, even short ones, is also piracy.”
She emphasized that protecting the film helps everyone involved, from actors and crew members to distributors and cinema operators.
Akindele added that genuine support from fans goes a long way in sustaining Nollywood’s growth and global recognition.
Behind The Scenes explores the realities of success, fame, and the emotional struggles that often go unnoticed by the public.
The film takes a deep look at the pressures behind stardom, personal sacrifices, and the hidden challenges faced by people in the entertainment industry.
Akindele revealed that the movie was inspired by a divine message, describing the project as deeply personal and meaningful.
She noted that the story aims to spark reflection and honest conversations about life beyond public success.
The film features a strong cast that includes Tobi Bakre, Iyabo Ojo, Scarlet Gomez, and Ini Dima-Okojie, among others. Their performances, according to early viewers, add depth and emotion to the storyline.
Fans and industry colleagues have praised Akindele for speaking out against piracy, with many agreeing that illegal recording remains one of the biggest challenges facing Nollywood.
As Behind The Scenes continues its cinema run, Akindele has encouraged fans to enjoy the movie responsibly and support the industry by respecting intellectual property.
With her appeal, the filmmaker hopes audiences will help protect creative work and ensure that Nigerian films continue to thrive both locally and internationally.
