Ranking the winners by vote percentage
When ranked by vote strength, Laycon leads the BBNaija hall of fame with a commanding 60% of the total votes in 2020, a record that still stands unmatched.
He was followed closely by Efe, who won 57.61% of the votes in 2017, while Whitemoney’s 47% in 2021 cements his place among the most dominant victors.
At the other end of the spectrum, newer seasons have seen narrower wins. Kellyrae’s 35.95% in 2024 and Imisi’s 42.8% in 2025 reflect tighter competitions and more divided fanbases.
The All Stars edition in 2023 was the most unpredictable yet, with Ilebaye scraping through with a 30.08% win margin, the lowest in BBNaija history.
The gender ratio: 6 men vs 4 women
Out of ten official seasons, six winners have been male, including Katung, Efe, Miracle, Laycon, Whitemoney, and Kellyrae, while four women have clinched the title: Mercy Eke, Phyna, Ilebaye, and Imisi.
Interestingly, while men dominated the early years, women have made a strong comeback in recent editions.
From Mercy’s trailblazing victory in 2019, the first by a female contestant, to Phyna’s fiery 2022 win, and the back-to-back triumphs of Ilebaye (2023) and Imisi (2025), female housemates now account for 40% of all BBNaija champions.

From Laycon’s record-breaking victory to Imisi’s recent win, Big Brother Naija’s history is a mirror of changing audience dynamics, growing diversity, and the rise of digital fan culture.
Ten seasons in, the show remains not just a reality competition but a national obsession that crowns new stars every year, one public vote at a time.
