Motunrayo Kuti, daughter of late Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, has criticised Afrobeats star Wizkid over claims that he is “bigger” than her father.
New Daily Prime recalls that Wizkid recently made the statement while responding to criticisms from Seun Kuti, Fela’s son, sparking widespread reactions across social media.
Reacting in a video broadcast that has since gone viral, Motunrayo berated the singer for what she described as a disrespectful comparison, insisting that Wizkid’s remark crossed a line.

“Wizkid, you said you are bigger than Fela, right? Wizkid, you are also bigger than your useless father, who abandoned you and your mum, who is now late,” she said in the video.
She went further to compare Wizkid’s parents with Fela, adding, “Since you said you are bigger than our own father, you are also bigger than your father, Muniru Olatunji Balogun. And our father is definitely bigger than your father and mother.”
Motunrayo also took a swipe at Wizkid’s personal life, accusing him of abandoning his baby mamas and warning that his legacy could one day be criticised.
“You that abandoned your baby mamas. Don’t worry, we will all be here when they start to rubbish your own legacy too,” she stated.
As of the time of filing this report, Wizkid has not publicly responded to Motunrayo Kuti’s comments. The exchange has further intensified the ongoing debate around legacy, influence, and respect for pioneers in Nigeria’s music industry.
