Veteran music producer and Mavin Records boss, Don Jazzy, has offered a rare glimpse into the personal sacrifices he has made on his journey to becoming one of Nigeria’s most influential entertainment figures.
Speaking on the Echo Podcast, the 42-year-old revealed that while his career has brought him immense fulfillment, one area of his life he may have unconsciously sacrificed is marriage.
When asked what he had to let go in his pursuit of success, Don Jazzy admitted that he never envisioned reaching his 40s without being married.
“I never thought I’d be in my 40s and not married,” he said. “Maybe that’s the one I lost along the way. If it comes, it comes. If it doesn’t, I’m totally fine.”
Don Jazzy’s statement struck a chord with fans, many of whom have long speculated about his private life and marital status.
The celebrated hitmaker was previously married in the early 2000s, a union he has described in past interviews as short-lived due to his all-consuming dedication to music.
Since then, the Mavin Records boss has remained single, dedicating his time and energy to building one of Africa’s most successful record labels.

Under his leadership, Mavin Records has become home to some of Afrobeats’ biggest stars, including Tiwa Savage, Rema, Ayra Starr, Ladipoe, and Magixx, and has produced multiple chart-topping hits that have dominated both African and international airwaves.
Reflecting on his journey, Don Jazzy emphasised that his passion for music remains the core of his identity.
“Even if I wasn’t a record label executive, my life would still revolve around music,” he explained, underscoring how deeply connected he is to his craft.
Despite the sacrifices, the music mogul said he feels fulfilled with the impact he has made on the Nigerian music scene, helping to shape the sound and global recognition of Afrobeats.
Known for his humour and relatable personality on social media, Don Jazzy remains one of the most respected figures in the industry.
