Don Jazzy first shocked the public in April 2021 when he disclosed that he had once been married. The revelation came during an emotional social media post in which he shared photos from the wedding and admitted that he kept the marriage secret for years.
He explained at the time that he married Michelle Jackson, a model and writer based in the United Kingdom, when he was 20. Their marriage lasted two years before ending in divorce.
According to him, his ambitious focus on music created tension and left him with little time for family life.
Don Jazzy confessed that he was obsessed with building his career and was not mature enough to balance marriage with his rising responsibilities in the music industry.
Although fans often urge him to reconnect with Michelle, Don Jazzy made it clear that she had remarried. This update settled ongoing speculation about whether the two still maintained a close relationship.
For years, followers believed there was a chance they might get back together because they had remained friendly even after the divorce.
Michelle also visited Nigeria in 2022, which led to rumours of a reunion. Don Jazzy denied such claims and stressed that he respected her private life.
The music mogul has also spoken openly about his decision not to remarry anytime soon. He often said that the same drive that affected his first marriage was still very present in his life.
Don Jazzy stated in past interviews that he feared his dedication to his music career could again create problems in a relationship.
He admitted that he still spent most of his time recording, mentoring young talents, and managing Mavin Records operations.
He maintained that it would be unfair to bring someone into his life when he knew he might not be able to give marriage the full attention it required.
Despite not being married, Don Jazzy insisted that he felt fulfilled and grateful for what he had achieved. He highlighted his impact on the Afrobeats industry as one of the biggest blessings in his life.
Over the years, Don Jazzy discovered and mentored several successful artists, including Wande Coal, Tiwa Savage, Reekado Banks, Korede Bello, Rema, Crayon, Magixx, and Ayra Starr.
In his words, helping young artists grow remained one of his greatest joys, and he believed this was where his true calling lay.
For now, Don Jazzy remains focused on music, talent development, and expanding Mavin Records, while reiterating that marriage is not on his immediate list of priorities.
