Media personality Do2dtun has called for an end to the online criticism and bullying directed at Afrobeats star Adekunle Gold, following renewed social media controversy involving old tweets by his wife, Simi.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Do2dtun praised Adekunle Gold’s contribution to Nigerian music and urged critics to separate personal issues from professional achievements.

His comments come amid heated online debates sparked by resurfaced posts attributed to Simi, which have triggered widespread reactions and criticism directed at the singer and his family.
In his post, Do2dtun emphasised Adekunle Gold’s musical accomplishments, highlighting what he described as classic albums and landmark performances. He referenced the singer’s widely celebrated show at the National Theatre, noting it as a testament to his artistry and stage presence.
“I think it’s time for you guys to leave AG alone. He gave us classic albums, this guy shut down a whole national theatre; an amazing performer, his craft is exceptionally untouched,” he wrote.
The media personality also condemned what he described as extreme and unfair comments aimed at the musician and his family. According to him, public discourse has crossed the line from criticism into outright bullying.
“I see the most despicable comments about him and his family. Mehn it’s enough. I believe if we all stand tall in many things in life, let us start with respecting people’s craft and life work,” he added.
Do2dtun further described Adekunle Gold as one of Nigeria’s most significant music exports, insisting that his legacy and body of work should not be overshadowed by online controversies.
“He remains unscarred and he is still one of the biggest musicians to ever come out of Nigeria. Una carry issue turn am to assault and extreme bullying. It’s enough,” he concluded.
Adekunle Gold, known for blending highlife, Afropop and contemporary sounds, has built a strong reputation for musical evolution and consistency since his breakthrough in the mid-2010s.
Over the years, he has released multiple successful projects and earned praise for his vocal range, songwriting and live performances.
While neither Adekunle Gold nor Simi has issued an extensive public statement addressing the resurfaced tweets, Do2dtun’s remarks have added to the growing conversation about online accountability, celebrity culture and the limits of digital criticism.
The development has once again highlighted the intense scrutiny faced by public figures and the blurred lines between public commentary and personal attacks in Nigeria’s digital space.
