Sean “Diddy” Combs has reportedly been placed on suicide watch while in prison, awaiting trial on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. This development follows the rapper’s recent court appearance, where he sought a $50 million bail package to avoid being detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. However, his request was denied by the judge.
The suicide watch is a “preventative measure” implemented for Diddy’s safety revealed by online sources. During Wednesday’s court hearing, Diddy’s legal team argued that he posed no flight risk and was not a danger to the public, but the prosecution countered with evidence, including alleged text messages from Diddy to his ex, Cassie Ventura, after a 2016 incident involving her.
One of the messages reportedly read: “Call me, the cops are here. I got six kids. You, please call. I’m surrounded. You gonna abandon me all alone.”
Diddy’s defense team also proposed house arrest with the condition of “no female visitors,” a request that the judge also denied.
The music mogul faces serious charges that could result in a sentence ranging from 15 years to life in prison. His arrest in Manhattan followed raids at two of his homes, in Los Angeles and Miami, conducted by federal agents in March 2024. During these raids, authorities reportedly discovered 1,000 bottles of lubricant and three AR-15 rifles.
Diddy has pleaded not guilty to the charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation for prostitution, maintaining his innocence throughout the proceedings.
