Former Big Brother Naija housemate and comedian DeeOne has criticised ex-presidential candidate of the Labour Party Peter Obi, over what he described as the former governor’s reluctance to spend money on his political ambition.
DeeOne made the remarks in a viral Instagram video on Saturday while reacting to the emergence of the City Boy Movement, a political support group backing the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
According to the comedian, the movement, reportedly initiated by the President’s son, Seyi Tinubu, has attracted some former supporters of Obi as coordinators and directors across parts of the South-East.

Reacting to the development, DeeOne advised Obi to “step up his game” by being more willing to spend resources on political mobilisation, arguing that sympathy alone would not secure victory in the 2027 presidential election. He also condemned Obi’s popular slogan, “We no dey give shishi,” insisting that such an approach weakens grassroots engagement.
He further alleged that during the 2023 general election, some agents of the Labour Party were inadequately supported at polling units and had to rely on rival parties for food and water.
DeeOne urged Obi to either personally invest in his campaign or openly encourage supporters to donate, promising transparency in how such funds would be used. He stressed that campaigning and election monitoring require practical support, adding that acknowledging these realities does not amount to disloyalty but rather a desire to see Obi perform better in future elections.
The comments have since sparked mixed reactions on social media, with supporters and critics debating the role of money in Nigeria’s electoral politics.
