Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has added a major leadership role to her growing list of accomplishments as she emerged as the new National Vice President (Southwest) of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN.
Her election was announced on Saturday during the Guild’s annual convention, which took place in Edo State and attracted key industry stakeholders, state representatives, and senior members of the association.
The AGN annual convention is one of the Guild’s most important gatherings, providing an opportunity for members from across the country to evaluate the Guild’s progress, elect new leaders, and discuss strategies for strengthening the Nigerian film community.

This year’s edition was particularly significant, as several national offices, including the president and vice-presidential positions, were contested by prominent industry figures.
Dayo Amusa, widely celebrated for her contributions to Nollywood both as an actress and filmmaker, received overwhelming support from delegates representing the Southwest region.
Her emergence as the National Vice President (Southwest) reflects the confidence many within the industry have in her leadership qualities, experience, and long-standing dedication to the growth of the Nigerian film sector.
Shortly after the election results were announced, Amusa took to her Instagram page to express deep gratitude to the delegates who voted for her and to everyone who played a role in her campaign.
In her heartfelt appreciation message, the actress thanked AGN elders, state chairmen, and members nationwide for entrusting her with the responsibility of overseeing the Guild’s affairs in the Southwest.
“Thank you to all the Delegates, AGN Chairmen, and all the AGN elders and members nationwide who found me worthy to occupy this position as the AGN National Vice President Southwest. I truly appreciate the confidence you’ve placed in me,” she wrote.
She also acknowledged her campaign team, emphasising the commitment and hard work that contributed to her victory.
“Thanks to my campaign DG, Ani Blessing, Madam Oby Express and the entire campaign team,” she added, appreciating the individuals who stood by her throughout the election process.
As the new National Vice President (Southwest), Amusa is expected to work closely with state chapters within the region to strengthen the Guild’s operations, support talent development, and promote unity among actors.
The role also places her in the Guild’s national executive council, where she will contribute to broader policies affecting actors across the country.
Industry observers say her emergence could inspire more female creatives to take on leadership positions within Nollywood’s professional bodies, further increasing representation and visibility for women in the sector.
With her election now confirmed, all eyes are on Dayo Amusa as she steps into her new leadership responsibilities.
